Trick Tips
Back Side 180 (Tail) with:  Brian Snabes
This is my favorite trick because it has room for many different grab variations and even though very simple takes a ton of control.  Before trying this trick into the flats, first master the wake to wake version.

As you approach the wake try to keep the handle around waist level.  I like to keep the hanle close to my body by keeping my elbows in towards my hips all the way through the trick.

Make sure to hold your edge all the way through the wake to maximize your pop and to prevent spinning too early.  This trick is all about waiting and staying in control.

Make sure not to initiate the spin too early.  It is important to commit to waiting until you reach the peack of the jump before you begin to look for your landing.  This is where going for the grab helps.  Go for the grab early so you can get  the rotation under control before letting the rest of the trick happen.

Continue to hold the grab towards the peak of the jump before you begin to poke it out.  Still wait to look over your shoulder to help slow the rotation.  Looking too early will either put you off axis or over spin you into a back side 360.

As you begin to poke the grab keep the handle close to your front hip.  Keeping the handle close will make it easier to pass it at the end of the trick and give you more time for the poke.  Remember to keep your shoulders over your knees and your knees over your feet through the entire trick.

Finish the poke by pulling up hard on the tail and extending your front leg straight down towards the water.  At this point you can begin to look over your shoulder.

As you release the grab move the handle towards the center of your back.
I like to pass the handle just under my butt to help keep my knees bent longer to help prevent putting the landing gear down too early.

Don't rush letting go of the handle with your old front hand until you have gained a good grip with your new front hand.  Waiting to let go will help keep your body and board square to the water for the landing.  It is not until this point that you should begin looking over the shoulder for your landing.

As you release the handle with your old front hand keep it level with your new front hip and continue looking over your shoulder for the landing.  At this point you should prepare for impact by tightening and extending your legs down to meet the water.  Having partially extended legs will give you more room to bend them to finish the landing and absorb the impact.
As you land, bend your knees as much as possibe.  As you land keep your shoulders over your knees and begin to shift your weight over your toe edge as you would with the landing on a front side 180.

As you absorb the landing with your knees let the handle out towards the boat to keep line tension and maintain control.  When doing this tick into the flats it is important to maintain a high speed through the trick to help make the landing easier on your body.
At this point you can stand up and ride away on your toe edge feeling great about sticking the trick.
